1. Introduction

Welcome to the Electric Meter Bill Tracker (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have regarding your personal data.

This privacy policy applies to users of our App on Android and iOS. By accessing and using this App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms of this Privacy Policy, including the Data Backup & Inactive Subscription Policy. The App is used to manage electric meter records and service access. Any service billing arranged with your provider is handled outside the App. The App may work with previously synchronized data while you are offline; changes are stored on your device and synced to our servers when a connection is available.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create and use an account in Electric Meter Bill Tracker, we collect information needed to provide the service. Authentication is provided through Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication.

The App does not provide direct email/password sign-up or sign-in. We do not store passwords in the App database.

2.2 Meter Information

To help you track your electricity consumption, we collect and store the following meter-related data:

2.3 Bill Information

When you add billing records to the App, we collect:

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

To operate the App securely and reliably—including offline use and service-access checks—limited technical information may be processed automatically, including:

The App is not designed to collect contacts, precise location, photos, microphone recordings, health data, or payment card information as part of its normal use.

2.5 Information Stored on Your Device

To support offline use and a faster launch, the App may keep a local copy of data on your device, including:

This on-device data stays on your device and is used to show your records and allow limited edits while offline. Pending changes are sent to our servers when connectivity returns.

2.6 Information You Provide

You may also choose to provide additional information, including:

Note: The App does not collect highly sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, bank account details, payment card details, biometric data, or precise location. Your name, email, and any support details you voluntarily provide are used only to deliver and support the service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

3.1 Primary Purposes

3.2 Secondary Purposes

3.3 Non-Usage of Your Data

We explicitly do not:

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Data Storage Location

Your account information and app data are stored using Google Firebase, including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Data is protected using industry-standard security measures such as encrypted transmission and controlled access.

On Android and iOS, the App also keeps an on-device cache of your Firestore data and limited preferences (language, cached app settings, and last service-access verification time) so the App can open and work when you have no internet connection. Cached copies are updated or replaced when the App reconnects.

4.2 Security Measures

We employ the following security measures to protect your information:

Important: While we implement strong security measures, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we commit to protecting your information using reasonable security practices. Offline drafts are queued until they reach our servers; server-side security rules still apply when those changes sync.

4.3 Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations, subject to the inactive-subscription backup rules in Section 5. When you submit an account deletion request, we will review and process it within a reasonable time. Once approved, related app data is deleted or anonymized as operationally appropriate, unless retention is legally required. Local caches and offline preferences on a device are removed when you clear app storage, uninstall the App, or (for some preference keys) when you sign out.

5. Data Backup & Inactive Subscription Policy

This Section is a binding term of your use of the App. By creating an account, signing in, or continuing to use the App after this policy is published or updated, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to this Section in full.

5.1 Meaning of “Backup Data”

For this policy, “Backup Data” means copies of your App content that we store to provide the service, including meter records, bill records, location records, related account content, and any server-side or operational backups of that content. It does not create a separate guaranteed archival product, and we do not promise indefinite retention of Backup Data after service access ends.

5.2 Subscription Discontinuation (Three Consecutive Months)

If your paid membership, free trial, or other authorized service access is discontinued, expired, cancelled, or otherwise inactive for three (3) consecutive months (calculated from the end of the last valid active period, or from the last day on which you held valid write/service access, whichever applies), we may permanently delete your Backup Data and related App content from our systems, including backups, without further obligation to restore it.

User responsibility: You are solely responsible for exporting, copying, or otherwise preserving any meter, bill, or other records you need before the three-month inactive period ends. We are not required to provide a free export after deletion has occurred under this Section.

5.3 Nature of Deletion; No Duty to Restore

Deletion under this Section is authorized by your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. Once Backup Data is deleted under this policy:

5.4 Notice

Publication of this Privacy Policy (including this Section) constitutes advance notice of the inactive-subscription deletion rule. We may, but are not required to, send additional email or in-app reminders before deletion. Failure to receive or read a reminder does not extend the three-month period or create liability where this policy was available to you.

5.5 Legal Effect; Defense of Lawful Deletion; Misuse of Complaints

You acknowledge and agree that:

  1. Deletion of Backup Data after three consecutive months of subscription/service discontinuation, as described here, is a disclosed and authorized processing/retention practice of the App;
  2. You will not assert that we promised permanent or indefinite cloud backup contrary to this Section;
  3. Any complaint, report, or claim to a court, regulator, platform, or other authority that misrepresents this disclosed policy, omits material facts about your acceptance of it, or falsely alleges unauthorized deletion after you agreed to these terms, may be contested by us with this Privacy Policy as evidence of notice and consent; and
  4. Where permitted by applicable law, we reserve all rights to seek appropriate legal remedies (including defense costs, damages, and relief against defamation, misrepresentation, or abuse of process) against any person who knowingly makes a false, malicious, or bad-faith claim or report about deletion carried out in accordance with this Section.

Nothing in this Section limits your ability to make a good-faith inquiry or to exercise non-waivable rights under applicable privacy or consumer law. It does limit claims that seek to treat disclosed inactive-account deletion as secret, unauthorized, or contrary to an undeclared “permanent backup” promise.

5.6 Exceptions

We may retain limited account, billing-reference, security, or legal records where required by law, to resolve disputes, to enforce our terms, or to complete an account-deletion workflow you requested. Those limited records are not a promise that full meter/bill Backup Data will be kept after the three-month inactive period.

5.7 Governing Law and Evidence

This Privacy Policy, including this Section, is governed by the laws of Bangladesh, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would apply another jurisdiction’s law, except where mandatory local law requires otherwise. An electronic copy of this policy (including version date) and records of your account activity may be used as evidence of the terms you accepted.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

6.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We may use trusted service providers that help us operate the App. These providers may process data only on our behalf and only for the purposes described in this policy.

Service Provider Purpose Data Shared
Google Firebase Authentication, cloud database hosting, on-device Firestore cache, and core application infrastructure Name, email address, account metadata, meter records, bill records, feedback, and service-access history

We do not sell personal information and we do not share user data with third parties for their independent advertising or marketing purposes.

6.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information when required by law or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to:

6.3 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your information.

6.4 User Consent

We will not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Portability

You have the right to access your personal information and request a copy of the data we hold about you. You can access and review your information directly through the App. Portability is available while Backup Data remains on our systems; after deletion under Section 5, recovery may no longer be possible.

7.2 Correction and Updates

You can update or correct your information at any time through your account settings in the App. For meter and bill information, you can edit or delete records as needed, including while offline; those changes sync to our servers when you reconnect.

7.3 Deletion Rights

You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated app data. To exercise this right, you can:

Once a deletion request is approved, your related app data may be permanently removed from active systems, subject to any legal or security retention requirements. Separately, Backup Data may also be deleted under the inactive-subscription rule in Section 5 without a user-initiated deletion request.

7.4 Opt-Out

You can opt-out of:

7.5 Do Not Track (DNT)

Because the App primarily operates through authenticated account storage rather than browser-based advertising trackers, standard browser Do Not Track signals may have limited applicability.

7.6 Applicable Regulations

Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under:

If you are subject to any of these regulations, please contact us to exercise your specific rights. Where those laws allow retention limits and deletion after inactivity, Section 5 operates as our disclosed retention schedule.

8. Children's Privacy

The Electric Meter Bill Tracker is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete such information and take steps to prevent further collection.

If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us immediately using the information in the "Contact Us" section.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of any material changes by:

Your continued use of the App after any modifications signifies your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
